WHO says women can't do a man's job? That's what single mother, Rokiah Salim, 51, said when she decided to become a 10-wheel trailer driver.
According to Rokiah, who is also known as Kak Lori, being a trailer driver is not as difficult as it seems.
The working hours are flexible and she could easily earn up to RM7,000 a month.
All she has to do is pick up containers from ships at the Penang Port and deliver them to the depot for repairs. In a month, she has to do at least 150 trips. If she does more, the more pay she gets.
She said the job doesn't have any basic pay except for food allowance, commissions and bonuses.
While on duty, she experienced her fair share of unusual situations.
One of which she encountered a group of drunken men who stopped her in the middle of the road and starting throwing profanity at her.
Luckily, a passerby came to her rescue and chased them away.
The incident didn't deter Rokiah from pursuing her career which she has grown to love.
Previously, Rokiah used to work in a factory for 18 years and she was constantly under pressure from her demanding employer.
