GEORGE TOWN: DAP is puzzled over a news report that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) wants to "lead" the opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan (PH) said Lim Guan Eng.
Its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said he needs to verify the report first before commenting further.
The Penang chief minister said PH component parties had during a meeting last week accepted PPBM into the opposition pact.
"I think it is better for us to check further as our stand all this while remains clear that Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah is the opposition leader, " he told reporters today.
Muhyiddin Yassin had reportedly said a Malay-based party should takes charge of PH and pointed out PPBM was one of the parties that could do this.
He was reported as saying this in a ceramah in Kota Kiri, Padang Rengas on Saturday night.
On a separate matter, the Penang Chief Minister questioned the 4.5% increase in the inflation rate.
He noted a high inflation rate back in 1998 and 2008 was due to the world economic crisis.
