US actor Tobey Maguire is set to make his directorial debut by helming an adaptation of the thriller novel Blood on Snow, with Leonardo DiCaprio rumoured to star.
Maguire's production company, Material Pictures and Lawrence Grey's Grey Matter Productions have acquired the screen rights to the film, which will be based on Jo Nesbo's best-selling 2015 thriller of the same name.
The script will be adapted by the Norwegian author himself, with the story centred on a contract killer called Olav, who, when instructed to murder his adulterous wife, falls into a meditation on death and love, and opts to pursue his boss' rival.
Maguire's Material partner Matthew Plouffe is also producing, with Grey Matter's Ben Everard, Nesbo and his agent Niclas Salomonsson attached as executive producers for the feature.
Aside from acting, Maguire has previously produced a handful of films, including the 2003 drama Seabiscuit, in which he also starred. — AFP Relaxnews
