KUALA LUMPUR: Two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged a police report over Singapore's Mediacorp Channel 5 comedy segment in which celebrity host Najip Ali poked fun at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.
The two NGOs are Pertubuhan Martabat Jalinan Muhibbah Malaysia (MJMM) and Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia.
MJMM president Abdul Rani Kulup Abdullah said such a joke was deemed very offensive as it touched the sensitivity of the people in the country.
"Najip Ali can make a joke about anything, as long as it does not touch the sensitivity of the people in the country. Poking fun at the prime minister is an unforgivable act and should be dealt with sternly."
He said this to reporters after lodging the report at Dang Wangi Police District headquarters, here.
Dang Wangi deputy police chief Supt Habibi Majinji, when contacted, confirmed receiving the report. — Bernama
