GEORGE TOWN: The Immigration Department nabbed 23 foreign women during a raid on three brothels in the city.
During the 3.30pm operation today, enforcement officers nabbed the Indonesian women and several Bangladeshi men.
State Immigration Department Enforcement Division head Khwaja Banthey Navaz Mohamed Haneef said the brothels were frequented by foreign male patrons.
He said several of those caught had attempted to flee, but enforcement officers acted swiftly to prevent them from escaping.
Khwaja said they had violated their social visit passes, adding that many of the women had entered the country as tourists.
