50 traders zero-rate GST after warning

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Department (KPDNKK) warned 50 traders who failed to zero-rate the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for their businesses. They have complied and have adjusted their billing systems within three days.
"One outlet in a shopping mall adjusted its billing system within an hour when we told him that his shop needs to shut down," its chief, Khairul Anwar Bachok, said after launching the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Festive Price Control Scheme 2018 at Smart Pandan, here today.
"No more warning notice start from today, traders who failed to adjust to zero GST will be compounded."
About 160 enforcement officers from the department have inspected 45,000 items of goods in 2,500 premises in the state since June 1.
He said KPDNKK will act promptly on complaints from the consumers: "Our enforcement officers all out on inspection 24 hours a day."
Khairul also reminded traders to display pink price tags for the 19 items under Hari Raya Aildifitri Price Control Scheme 2018. The 15-day control is enforced until June 22.
