PETALING JAYA: Police have received 53 reports lodged nationwide against Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy over his alleged ties with Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) member V. Gopalasamy or Vaiko, following a recent picture of them both on Facebook.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the reports included one from the DAP Central Executive Committee member himself.
"Initially, the case was handled by the Penang police ... It has been taken over by the Bukit Aman Special Investigations Unit," he told a press conference after the handing over of police vehicles ceremony by PLUS Malaysia Berhad here today.
Asked whether police would call Ramasamy to have his statement recorded, Mohamad Fuzi said it would depend on the investigation.
Last Saturday, a picture of Ramasamy and Vaiko stirred a controversy after it was uploaded to the Penang DCM II's Facebook page.
It is learnt that the picture was taken in Penang where Vaiko had attended a wedding. — Bernama
