KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 27, 2014): Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn. Bhd. (ETCM) saw vehicle sales jump 48% to 51,875 units in 2013, its highest ever.
The numbers enabled Nissan to its No.2 position in the non-national segment for 2013, in a year where total industry volume reached an all time high of 655,793 units.
The sales numbers of ETCM were led by the strong demand for the Nissan Almera. It accounted for 57% of total Nissan sales, or 29,647 units, in Malaysia last year.
Since its first launch in 2012, ETCM sold more than 35,000 units of Nissan Almera.
The Nissan Almera starts from RM66,800.
2013 was also a significant year for ETCM with the launch of the first hybrid MPV – the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid - and the 100% Electric Nissan Leaf added to its many milestones.
With the launch of the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid and Nissan LEAF, the Nissan portfolio has broadened to a wider range of vehicles from Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) powered vehicles, Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), right up to Electric Vehicles (EVs), covering sedans, MPVs, 4x4 pick-ups, SUVs, and commercial vehicles.
"Although we have reached this significant milestone of more than 50,000 units of Nissan vehicles in Malaysia, ETCM is committed to continue to make customer satisfaction its No.1 priority. We at ETCM will strive to continue to earn the successes for the upcoming years with our 2014 plan," Chen added.
