Air France 447 investigators to assist in hunt for MH370

PETALING JAYA: French investigators who worked on the crash of Air France 447 have arrived to help the investigation team to shed light on the missing MH370 flight, the Transport Ministry said in a statement today.
"Three French officials from the Bureau d'Enquêtes et d'Analyses pour la sécurité de l'aviation civile (BEA) have arrived in Kuala Lumpur to help with the search and rescue (SAR) operation. The officials will share their expertise and knowledge based on their experience from the search for Air France Flight 447," read the statement.
Air France Flight 447 was a scheduled international flight from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Charles de Gaulle International Airport in Paris, France in 2009.
The flight crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in the deaths of all 216 passengers and 12 crew members and was the deadliest in the history of Air France.
There have been comparisons between the missing MH370 jet and Air France 447, as the black boxes belonging to the latter was only retrieved from the ocean floor almost two years later in May 2011
The statement also mentioned that the Royal Malaysian Navy and the Royal Malaysian Air Force will deploy their assets to the southern corridor that stretches from Indonesia to the south of the Indian Ocean.
To date 26 countries have joined the search - Malaysia, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkmenistan, UAE, UK, US, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
