KUALA LUMPUR: The Aquaria KLCC created a new record when it received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the longest Jalur Gemilang at 60m in the aquarium.
The Jalur Gemilang was put up in conjunction with the National Day 2017 celebration and the 12th anniversary of the Aquaria KLCC today.
Aquawalk Sdn Bhd executive director Datuk Simon Foong said the public can see the Jalur Gemilang, measuring 60m by 83cm wide, that adorned the walls of the aquarium until Sunday.
"The installation of the Jalur Gemilang is aimed at raising the patriotic spirit among the visitors besides imbuing a love of the country that could be a tourist pull.
"We have conducted a study before putting up the Jalur Gemilang to ensure the material and dyes used in the aquarium do not contain toxic substances that can damage aquarium life. So we have chose special nylon as materials to make the flag," he told reporters after receiving a certificate from MBOR founder Tan Sri Danny Oii at a ceremony in Aquaria KLCC.
Foong said it took 10 people, including four divers, three hours to put up the Jalur Gemilang. — Bernama
