Armoured van carrying RM4m turns turtle, guards injured, money safe

PETALING JAYA: Two security guards suffered injuries after an armoured van transporting RM4 million overturned after crashing into another vehicle at a junction at Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang today.
The security van with three security guards was on its way to replenish automated teller machines (ATM) at bank branches here, Subang and Shah Alam when the accident occured at about 11.50am.
Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said preliminary investigations showed that the crash occured after the van driver had sped out of a junction into the path of another vehicle.
"Two guards in the rear cargo compartment of the van were thrown about inside and suffered minor injuries. The were sent to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for treatment. The RM4 million in the van was safely transferred into another vehicle of the security company later." he said.
