SAVOUR traditional Chinese dumplings, or bak chang, while celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival at Resorts World Genting from now till June 18.
The Bak Chang Festival, which falls on the fifth day of the fifth month in the Chinese lunar calendar (June 18 this year), is usually celebrated by the Chinese with steamed lotus leaf-wrapped parcels of glutinous rice as a show of filial piety, and a way to honour their ancestors.
There are now many variants of bak chang to be had, from the traditional ones filled with meat, mushrooms, and beans, to the spicy nyonya version.
This year, Resorts World Genting offers six delectable variants, including its popular tian bak dumpling, the new taro dumpling with dried shrimp, and sweet versions such as the plain crystal dumpling, and crystal dumpling with red bean filling.
Resorts World Genting executive chef Alvin Khoo said: "This year, we're delighted to introduce the taro dumpling with dried shrimp, which will definitely be a crowd-favourite."
He added that the dumpling festival is widely celebrated among Malaysians, both young and old, as it brings back many childhood memories.
"Here at Resorts World Genting, we continue to experiment with new flavours and recipes to keep up with food trends while maintaining the highest quality in terms of ingredients and preparation methods for the classic variants."
