PETALING JAYA: Almost everyone walked away a winner at The BARN's Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament 2017. But the biggest winner of the day was the the National Autism Society of Malaysia (Nasom), the recipient of the RM30,000 raised.
It was a golf tournament with a difference at the Tropicana Golf and Country Resort on July 30 as the emphasis was on raising funds rather than winning.
A full field of 120 golfers took to the course with non-golfing donors having chipped in for the good cause as well. Most of them were regular diners at The BARN, a wine bar restaurant with outlets at 1 Mont Kiara, Pavilion Kl and Gurney Plaza.
"Nasom is extremely pleased that The BARN has come to its aid for a second year running as a charity," Nasom chairman Feilina Muhammad Feisol said.
"We rely on corporate sponsors as costs are high and when the economy is challenging, charities will always be the first to suffer. Nasom is always grateful for any financial aid we receive from endeavours such as this."
The BARN representative Ren Ee Chuan was overwhelmed by the positive response. "It was great fun organising our Second Annual Charity Golf Tournament in aid of Nasom," he said.
"Almost all of the corporations and individuals we approached responded positively. I guess this augurs well for Malaysians, that in spite of our busy schedules, we will still pause a moment to care for those in need."
Among the corporate sponsors were Bermaz Motors (Mazda), BHPetrol, ECK Development, Swiss-Garden International Hotels, Resorts & Inns, Huawei, Brown Brothers, Heineken, Dream Golf Events and Nippon Golf Tech.
The guest of honour was YTM Tunku Temenggong Kedah, Dato Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah
