JOHOR BARU: Dr Boo Cheng Hau has hit out at the party after he was dropped as candidate for the Skudai state seat in the coming general election in place of his former apprentice Tan Hong Ping.
The former Johor DAP chief accused Tan, who is currently Mengkibol assemblyman, of stabbing him in the back, and the party of encouraging him to do so.
Boo said he had never done anything to the party that warranted such treatment against him.
"I have never done anything to hurt DAP. I've never complained about forking out money to groom my assistant, but now they (DAP) asked him to betray me.
"Asking the apprentice to defeat the master ... You can never find such vicious leaders in the world," he said in a meet-and greet session with voters that was captured in a video dated April 22 that has since gone viral.
Boo said DAP should also stand by its own statement and have its leaders who are involved in alleged graft to step down, having demanded the same from Barisan Nasional leaders.
"Those who are supposed to resign from the party are those who do not stand firm with the party's principles, not me.
"Party leaders who are charged with graft should quit," he said, possibly referring to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, although he did not name anyone.
Lim had, on April 14, announced that Tan would replace Boo as candidate for the Skudai seat which Boo won in the 12th and 13th general elections.
Boo, who quit as Johor DAP chief in October 2015, had said that although he was disappointed with the decision, he would not leave the party to contest as an independent.
