Book review : Blacklist

THIS is book two of the Beautiful Idols novels.
The first, Unrivalled, ­offered a look behind the scenes of Hollywood glamour, where we learn that not all beautiful people lead ­beautiful lives, and dark secrets are aplenty in the game of fame.
To recap, gossip blogger Layla joins the club scene in an attempt to realise her dream of becoming a top-notch journalist, and rich girl Aster wants out from under her parents' thumb and plans to become an actress.
Meanwhile, Tommy intents to make it big with his music before revealing his ­relationship with ­industry bigwig Ira.
It all ended with Aster being falsely arrested for murder.
The tale continues here with Aster out on bail, determined to find out the truth ­before the ­evidence against her puts her away forever.
In the middle of a media frenzy that threatens all their futures, the once fierce ­adversaries band together to become temporary allies, working together to dig up the truth.
As they get deeper, Aster, Layla and Tommy ­realise there is more than meets the eye.
There are plenty of twists and turns as the amateur ­detectives try to get out of the mess they find themselves in.
With all the excitement ­going on, our young friends still find time for some ­romance to spice up the pages.
But the heat really rises as the book draws to its ­conclusion – and another cliffhanger, of course.
And there's nothing you can do about it except to wait for book three.
