Bursa Malaysia opens slightly higher

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia opened slightly higher today on mild buying interests, a dealer said.
At 9.04am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) inched up 0.92 of-a-point to 1,744.91 from Thursday's close of 1,743.99.
The index opened 1.04 points better at 1,745.03.
On the broader market, gainers outpaced losers by 101 to 97, with 189 counters unchanged, 1,465 untraded and 19 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 102.27 million shares worth RM29.14 million.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell three sen to RM9.32, Public Bank and Sime Darby eased two sen each to RM20.46 and RM9.02 respectively, while Tenaga was flat at RM14.32.
Among active counters, Trive Property rose 4.5 sen, Palette Multimedia gained 3.5 sen to 42 sen and both Hubline and DGB Asia were half-a-sen better at 17 sen and 9.5 sen, respectively.
The FBM Emas Index added 0.13 of-a-point to 12,527.29 and FBM 70 rose to 28.15 points to 15,302.62.
The FBMT 100 Index eased 0.27 of-a-point to 12,172.20, FBM Emas Syariah Index inched down 0.36 of-a-point to 12,847.80 and the FBM Ace lost 8.08 points to 6,948.28.
Sector-wise, the Finance Index declined 26.21 points to 16,320.52, Industrial Index slipped 0.99 of-a-point to 3,189.89 and the Plantation Index was 0.95 of-a-point lower at 7,910.22.
The physical price of gold as at 9.30am stood at RM169.13 per gramme, up 51 sen from RM168.62 at 5pm yesterday. — Bernama
