KUANTAN: Bussiness will resume as usual at Teruntum shopping complex tomorrow, after operations were halted following a burst water tank on top its building which damaged a wall yesterday.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Abdul Wahab Mat Yassin however said approval for the businesses and premises in the complex to start operations again would be subject to several conditions to ensure public safety.
Bernama quoted him as saying that this included requiring the building's management to clean up the debris and broken concrete slabs from Sunday's incident at the parking bay on the ground floor.
"We have conducted a check together with the Public Works Department. We hope the building's management will abide by the guidelines that have been set for the safety of those operating here," he said.
Abdul Wahab said this to reporters after accompanying the Acting Sultan of Pahang, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to visit the scene today.
The water tank, which sits atop the four-story building, burst on Sunday, sending concrete slabs from the broken wall crashing to the ground, and injuring four people.
At least six motorcycles and one car which were parked along the side entrance were also damaged.
Meanwhile, complex manager Mohd Zaid Harun said the management would abide by the conditions given to them, and would start the cleaning up of the debris.
"We have also been ordered to close all entrances at the back of the complex, including the the car park. All other businesses, including a bank that is located on the front, can operate beginning tomorrow," he said today.
