SUBANG JAYA: Fun, laughter and cheer filled the bowling alley here recently as theSun employees joined their heads of department at the company's first bowling tournament.
As 16 teams warmed up at 10am, families who also came cheered them on from the sidelines.
The atmosphere was exuberant, as theSun Media Corporation Sdn. Bhd. executive director Ching Chun Keat noted, seeing each team proving their mettle against each other.
"I had a great time at our bowling tournament, and I hope that everyone else did too. We had the demi-professionals, amateurs, and newbie bowlers with their supporters.
"We cheered, growled, shouted, and jumped when every ball rolled down the lane. For me, it was not about Strikes, Spares or failure to hit the pins. It was the noise, cheers, the grins in everyone's eyes, laughter, the high fives and hugs which made me feel proud of theSun's family at this event.
"I hope this will bring us together and stronger as a team. I believe that you can organise more inter-department events to strengthen our friendship and teamwork," he said in a closing speech after handing out the prizes.
Witnessing the prize presentation was theSun's managing editor, Freddie Ng.
Three teams were presented with cash prizes and a trophy.
Funtastic 4's team captain Mohd. Hatta was delighted to spend time with his colleagues after they garnered the top prize of RM400.
"I'm glad that we were able to join this tournament. I can feel the spirit of comradeship although we competed against different teams.

For Logeswaran Francis Xavier, who headed the Despacito team, it was a moment of recognition for him after serving theSun for the past 18 years in the Distribution Channels Department.
"It's a wonderful feeling to win, but it's also important to work together. If we don't cooperate, we wouldn't have won," he said after receiving a RM300 prize. He also won the highest pinfall with a 284 score.
