Contractor gets 15 months' jail for concealing money belonging to another person

KUALA LUMPUR: A contractor was sentenced to 15 months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here today for concealing a private company executive's money totalling RM80,000 in August last year.
Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof meted down the sentence on Mohd Hafiszudin Rosdi, 30, after he changed his plea to guilty.
The court ordered the sentence to run from the date of his arrest on Aug 4, 2017.
Mohd Hafiszudin was charged with fraudulently concealing the property belonging to the 29-year-old woman through a Bank Islam account causing the victim to suffer losses amounting to RM80,000 between 7.07pm and 7.48pm on Aug 2, last year.
The charge under Section 424 of the Penal Code provides an imprisonment for up to five years, or fine, or both, if found guilty.
Earlier in his appeal, Mohd Hafiszudin who was unrepresented, asked for a light sentence but deputy public prosecutor Raihanah Abdul Razak urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence. — Bernama
