PORT DICKSON: Some 1,000 motorcyclists were forced to push their vehicles for 5km from a roadblock near Sua Betong here on Sunday night.
Port Dickson deputy district police chief DSP Zainudin Ahmad said in the 9pm operation, the motorcyclists were ordered to do so for further examinations as well as urine tests.
"The joint operation was codenamed 'Ops Bersepadu'. It was jointly conducted by the district local council, Road Transport Department (RTD) and the police.
"During the operation, their motorcycles were inspected, with several summonses issued for various offences," he said today.
Zainudin said police will not hesitate to continue taking stern action as they had received numerous complaints from the public over illegal racing activities in town.
In the operation, the motorcyclists had to push their bikes in a convoy from Sua Betong to the Teluk Kemang police station.
A few youths were also seen attempting to escape by ramming their bikes into the policemen.
Zainudin urged parents to be more vigilant of their children's activities as they may be influenced by peers and might indulge in risky activities such as illegal, rowdy and dangerous motorcycle racing.
