CSSB eyes international recognition for cycling event

SHAH ALAM: Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd (CSSB) is targeting the Pulau Indah 180 cycling challenge that will be held for the third time next year, to be recognised as an international event.
Its chief executive officer Mahmud Abbas said the scheduled event on Jan 14, would be managed according to international standards just like the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdl), to enable participants to experience cycling in a prestigious competition.
He said the company wished to make recreational activities such as cycling a healthy lifestyle, as well as to promote Selangor and Malaysia to the world.
"I believe that cycling can bring the different communities in our country together, because when it comes to cycling, if our team mates or colleagues are facing problems, we will definitely help anyone regardless of race. It is such values and spirit that we want to instill and showcase to the world,” he said in a press conference after the launch of the Pulau Indah 180 Challenge here, today.
Mahmud said in the third edition of the race, the company had agreed that each team entry should have at least one female participant.

He said the other four categories were men's open (18-35 years old), women’s open (18 years and above), Junior Masters (35 to 44 years old) and Masters (45 years and above) with prizes worth a total of RM40,000.
Following the success of the previous two editions, CSSB aims to attract 1,000 participants from 17 countries for the third edition, with the registration date between Sept 1 to Dec 1, this year.
In the event, participants would begin racing from the CSSB headquarters in Pulau Indah, Port Klang and head to Morib, Banting and Sepang before turning back, covering a distance of 180km. — Bernama
