DAP can't contest in GE14 if CEC polls not held: Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP faces the risk of not being able to contest in the upcoming 14th General Election should the party not hold its central executive committee (CEC) re-elections per instructions, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pix).
He said this is due to the fact that the signatures of an approved party executive on party's nomination papers for the election would not be valid.
"If DAP's CEC is not recognised by the Registrar of Societies (ROS), then the appointment letter issued cannot be validated which disables their candidates from contesting," he said after opening Gombak Umno Division Delegates Conference at Taman Setiawangsa, here, today.
