DAP leadership denies receiving money from Robert Kuok

BLOGGER Raja Petra Kamaruddin's allegation that tycoon Tan Sri Robert Kuok has channelled funds to DAP through his nephew James has drawn some sabre-rattling.
While the opposition party responded with an outright denial, James asked the blogger to show proof.
DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang said in his 53 years as a politician, he has not received even a single sen from the tycoon or James, adding that the allegation was fake news intended to discredit the party in the run-up to the general election, Sin Chew Daily and Oriental Daily News reported today.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng also denied the party has ever received funds from Kuok.
"As the number one leader in the party, I've no knowledge that he (Kuok) contributed to DAP. If he had contributed, I would have thanked him.
"(But) I cannot thank him because he did not give us any money," he told reporters at Komtar on Sunday.
He repeated the denial at Datuk Keramat DAP division's Chinese New Year open house later in the day saying, " ... had Kuok donated money to DAP, the party would not need to try so hard to raise funds."
He also urged those who made the accusation to provide evidence.
Apart from accusing Kuok of funding DAP, Raja Petra also alleged that the low-profile tycoon had an agenda to replace Malaysia's leadership with DAP, so that the Chinese could be in power.

This prompted a warning from a senior Umno leader that Kuok should not forget his roots and that the latter owed the Barisan Nasional government for his success.
Kuok's nephew James also denied that he acted as the middleman between the tycoon and DAP in the channelling of funds and challenged Raja Petra to substantiate his allegation.
James said he was a businessman and he knew a lot of people including Kit Siang, who had dined at his restaurant.
"The most I've done is to spend RM3 to buy DAP's official publication, The Rocket."
Meanwhile, Umno MP for Johor Baru Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said as far as he knew the successful tycoon, who hailed from Johor, did not dabble in politics.
