Drink boiled water to prevent diseases: Perlis Raja Muda

PADANG BESAR: The people, especially those using wells, have been advised to drink boiled water to prevent the spread of dangerous diseases from contaminated underground water.
The Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said diseases such as cholera and typhoid could easily spread through contaminated water.
"All residents need to ensure their daily activities around the well which is their source of water should not contribute to polluting the water supply system," he said when opening the 'Water for Life 2018' programme at Kampung Lubuk Machang, Chuping, near here today.
Under the programme organised by Petronas Dagangan Berhad (PDB), Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) and the Perlis Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council, two wells and four large tanks were provided to channel clean water to more than 1,000 residents here.
In this regard, he said activities such poultry farming as well as waste disposal should be properly managed to ensure the well water is not contaminated. — Bernama
