Drugs found hidden within walls

KUALA LUMPUR: When police busted "Gang Ah Tee Jinjang" last month and found an underground drugs lab, little did they realise that hidden within the walls of the premises were drugs worth some RM4 million.
The drama unfolded about 7pm on May 2 when a team from the KL Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) detained four locals, including a woman, aged between 36 and 53 near a hotel along Jalan Pasar Baharu here.
Interrogation by police found that the suspects were remnants of the "Gang Ah Tee Jinjang" which was busted last month for processing drugs in a house in Taman Bukit Idaman in Batu Caves, Selangor.
One of the suspects had a packet of methamphetamine.
"Following further interrogation, the woman led us to the same house where we previously found a special compartment built underneath where the suspects processed drugs. Hidden within the walls of this compartment were the drugs," City police chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim told reporters at a press conference today.
"When we raided the house last time, our tracker unit could not track the remaining drugs," Mazlan added. Police found 94 packets of methamphetamine, weighing about 94kg and worth more than RM4 million.
"One kg of methamphetamine is roughly about RM50,000 at market price. This gang has been active for the past year. So I can say the case is solved with the arrests of all the suspects," he added.
The suspects tested positive for drug abuse and have been remanded for further investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Earlier in April, police discovered an underground drug lab following the arrest of a drug distributing syndicate's mastermind supplying drugs and drug-laced drinks to posh entertainment outlets in the city.
The underground compartment could fit 20 people.
