Eduspec to promote STEM education in China for 3 years

    PETALING JAYA: Eduspec Holdings Bhd is partnering with PKU-HKUST Shenzhen-Hong Kong Institution (PKU) to promote the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Academy (CMRA) certified Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in China for three years.
    Eduspec told Bursa Malaysia that it had entered into an educational cooperation agreement with PKU for the collaboration.
    PKU is a research collaboration in the business of hi-tech base for incubation, venture capital, innovative technology management system and training of hi-tech professionals in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong bay area.
    It was established in August 1999 as a joint venture of the Shenzhen Municipal Government, Peking University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
    Eduspec noted that the agreement is expected to enable the group to promote and distribute its STEM with Computer Science and STEM with Robotics Program in connection with an earlier agreement signed with iCarnegie Global Learning /Robomatter Inc.
    Eduspec will provide PKU with relevant authorisation documents and endorse PKU as the teachers training, student examination and certification centre for the CMRA certified STEM Programs in China, including Hong Kong and Macau.
    Meanwhile, PKU will assist Eduspec in marketing the STEM Programs in China, programs localisation, printing and publishing in Chinese as well as managing the assessment team and teachers training in China.
    STEM education is designed to revolutionise the teaching of subjects such as Mathematics and Science by incorporating technology and engineering into the regular curriculum and creating a "meta-discipline" at the same time enhance the students' computational thinking and problem solving skills.
    At 2.40pm, Eduspec shares were unchanged at 13.5 sen on some 187,600 shares done.
