Factory ordered to recall crispy flour packed in ceiling plaster wrapper

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry (KKM) has ordered a factory here to recall its crispy flour products, which were packed in ceiling plaster wrapper, from the market.
Its director-general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, said KKM investigation found that the factory had mistakenly used ceiling plaster wrapper to pack the crispy flour.
"KKM takes note of the allegation, which went viral on social media, that a premises in Puchong, Selangor, have been selling banana fritters prepared using flour that was mixed with ceiling plaster to make the food crispy.
"In this regard, KKM, through the Food Safety and Quality Division, has conducted an inspection on the premises selling the fried banana and found that the crispy flour factory had made a mistake by using ceiling plaster wrapper to pack the product," he said in a statement today.
He said the local authority had also taken action on the premises for operating without a licence. — Bernama
