Fire destroys four houses in Sungai Petani

SUNGAI PETANI: A fire destroyed four houses, two cars and 12 motorcycles in Taman Ria here early today.
No one was injured in the incident which occurred at about 1 am, said Kedah Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Mohamad Mustakim Mukhtar.
He said 16 fire-fighters from the Sungai Petani and Tikam Batu fire stations and Sungai Petani volunteer fire-fighters fought the blaze and brought it under control in about 15 minutes.
The cars and motorcycles belonged to the occupants of the four single-storey low-cost houses, he said.
The cause of the fire and damage had yet to be ascertained, he added. — Bernama
