TASEK GELUGOR: After being hit by what was said to be the worst flood in Penang, the victims are now working hard to clean up their homes.
Bernama checks found that flood victims in Kampung Kolam, Kampung Nyior Sebatang, Padang Cempedak, Simpang Tiga Taitong, Pokok Tampang and some other areas were removing badly damaged furniture and appliances for disposal.
One of them, Aminah Ali, 53, said her main focus now was to clean up the mud and rubbish trapped inside her house.
"My house is covered with thick mud especially the living room, kitchen and two rooms downstairs," said Aminah, who is living with her 63-year-old paralysed husband and three children.
Aminah, who has been living in Kampung Kolam since 32 years ago, said she was saddened by the tragedy but accepted it and was ready to face the second wave of floods.
Annamah Maridas, 46, who is living in Simpang Tiga Taitong said some of her home appliances were damaged by the floods including three refrigerators.
The mother of three, including a 24-year-old disabled son, also thanked her neighbours who helped her family even though their homes were also affected by floods.
In Nyior Sebatang, Tahfiz Al-Irsyad teacher Ustaz Suhairi Bahadzor said the tragedy had taught the pupils to be more patient and accept the will of God. — Bernama
