Former PKR rep not satisfied with e-voting system

GEORGE TOWN: A former PKR assemblyman said the e-voting system, being used in the party polls for the first time, had caused delays in the voting process.
Former Batu Uban assemblyman S. Raveentheran said he was unable to cast his vote for the Bayan Baru division due to the long waiting period.
After queuing for two hours at the SPICE arena here, he had to leave to attend to family matters and was not able to vote.
"I would say that this is incompetence as a trial run must be conducted prior to this. I am not blaming anyone but I feel the process could be much better," he said, adding that the party leadership should look into the matter.
The PKR party elections started today in Penang with a total of over 55,000 party members from 13 divisions in the state going to the polls.
The divisions are Nibong Tebal, Balik Pulau, Tanjung, Bayan Baru, Bukit Bendera, Kepala Batas, Jelutong, Bukit Gelugor, Bagan, Tasek Gelugor, Batu Kawan, Permatang Pauh and Bukit Mertajam.
To date, four division chiefs have been declared winners with no contest to their candidacy.
They are PKR's Jelutong division chief Shahrudin Mohamed Shariff, Lee Khai Loon in Bukit Mertajam, Nurul Izzah Anwar in Permatang Pauh, and Jason Ong Khan Lee in Bukit Bendera.
Members in Penang and Kedah were the first to go to the polls today.
