LONDON: Former Scotland captain Kelly Brown is to hang up his boots at the end of the season but stay on at English Premiership and European champions Saracens with a role in their Academy.
The 34-year-old — who captained the national side in 14 of the 64 Test matches he played — said he was looking forward to sharing his experience and love of the game with the young players.
"I have played for four clubs who I care deeply about and to have been able to captain my country is an honour that I'll always cherish," said Brown.
"I've been lucky to have been able to live my dream for 13 years and now I'm privileged to be able to help others do the same."
Brown, who overcame a serious stammer to lead his country, enjoyed a highly successful seven year spell at Saracens, winning three Premiership titles and last season's European Champions Cup.
"Kelly has made an enormous contribution in his seven years with us," said Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall.
"On the field, Kelly has been unbelievably consistent in setting a superb example to our younger players, constantly giving everything he had.
"Off the field, he is one of the most selfless people you'll ever meet, always putting the team first." — AFP
