IPOH: Police have arrested four Chinese nationals who broke into a pawnshop on Jalan Kledang, Menglembu early today.
In the 4.15am incident, the forced entry triggered the security alarm at the premise which alerted policemen on patrol.
Ipoh City police chief ACP Mohd Ali Tamby said police personnel called the owner but he could not make out the images from the CCTV recording on the phone.
"Meanwhile the policemen went to the rear of the shop and found the door ajar, they later spotted several people running to the top of the building.
"The patrol team called for back up and detained a man seated in a vehicle parked near the shop. He was apparently waiting for his accomplices," he said in a WhatsApp message to the media.
The three suspects were on the roof of the premise waiting to make their escape.
"At about 4.45am, one of the suspects slipped and fell to the ground, he was detained and we subsequently requested for assistance from the Fire and Rescue Department to arrest the two others on the roof at the end of a shoplot at 8.30am," he added.
Mohd Ali said several break-in tools, cash, gloves and two cars were seized from the suspects aged 60, 58, 57 and 45.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for burglary.
