KUALA LUMPUR: Four police personnel at the rank of corporal were arrested by Bukit Aman’s Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) for possessing ketum juice at their police quarters.
A police source said JIPS investigators assisted by the Kajang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, learnt that the suspects were consuming the ketum juice at the Cheras General Operations Force quarters.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the four men, who were arrested on Oct 5, had been consuming the juice.
“The joint police team arrested the suspects in a 9pm raid. However, urine tests done on the suspects came up negative for drug consumption.”
The source said despite this, they were remanded since they were caught for possession of ketum juice.
The case is being investigated under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
In a similar incident in October last year, nine police personnel and two civilians were arrested by JIPS officers for gambling and being in possession of ketum juice at a stall in Sunway Mentari, Petaling Jaya.
