Four dead in three Sungai Petani road accidents

SUNGAI PETANI: Two teenagers were among four motorcyclists killed in three separate accidents between last night and this morning.
They were Mohammad Ridzuan Zambri, 18, Muhammad Zamir Aizlan Mohd Joned, 19, Mohd Sahrolnizam Romle, 21, and an unidentified Vietnamese.
In the first incident at 9.45pm yesterday in Jalan Lencongan Timur near Bukit Bintang, Kuala Muda police chief ACP Saifi Abdul Hamid said a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) collided with two motorcycles ridden by Mohammad Ridzuan and the Vietnamese, respectively.
While the impact of the collision hurled the foreigner into a drain, Mohammad Ridzuan was dragged by the MPV for some distance, he said in a statement here.
Both riders who sustained head injuries died on the spot.
The second crash in Jalan Lencongan Timur near the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital about 4.10am involved two motorcycles whereby, one of the riders hit the rear of the other machine, causing both to skid on a road-shoulder.
One of the riders, Muhammad Zamir Eizlan, who sustained head injuries died at the scene, said Saifi, adding that the other, Najmi Nazri, 18, sustained body injuries.
More than four hours later, Mohd Sahrolnizam was killed on the spot in Jalan Bukit Kuang, Gurun when his motorcycle skidded and rammed into an electric pole. — Bernama
