Four detained in connection with robberies in Tapah, Bidor

TAPAH: For local men were detained by the police in connection with three armed robbery cases in Tapah and Bidor yesterday.
With the capture of the suspects, police had solved four robbery cases and one house break-in case in the district.
Tapah police chief ACP Som Sak Din Keliaw said following a public tip-off, the group of robbers, aged between 21 and 39, were picked up by the police from a Perodua Kelisa car in Kampung Poh around 3.30pm after robbing a village clinic there 20 minutes earlier.
The suspects, from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, had attempted to escape with the car stolen from a 36-year-old nurse from the clinic.
"In the first incident, the suspects who were armed with machetes broke into a house at a low-cost housing area in Bidor and robbed a man, 32, at 9.50am. They fled with RM19,000 in cash, five watches of various brands, two gold rings, SGD100 and a Honda City car.
"Then, at 1.05pm, the suspects who tested positive for methamphetamine, robbed a house in Taman Air Kuning Jaya, here, and fled with cash amounting RM600 and SGD1,000 after threatening a 66-year-old woman using a machete," Som Sak told reporters after attending the handing over of duties ceremony as Tapah police chief here today.
Police are also on the lookout for two other suspects in connection with the case. Three of the suspects had previous criminal records for drugs, car theft, house break-in, while two had been arrested under the Emergency Ordinance
"Also seized was a stolen Perodua Kelisa, 12 watches of various brands, cash amounting to RM6,585, four bracelets and 11 mobile phones of numerous brands.
"We have also found the Honda City car that was reported missing in Selayang, Selangor in a burnt condition in Kampung Koh. The car is believed to have been burnt by the suspects to dispose of evidence of their crime," he said.
The suspects were remanded for a week starting from today to facilitate investigations under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed gang robbery. — Bernama
