Four men rob jewellery outlet in Kuchai Lama, cart away with RM2.5m worth of gem

KUALA LUMPUR: Four men robbed a jewellery store at Jalan Kuchai Lama here today and made off with approximately RM2.5 million worth of gems in a heist that lasted under a minute.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said police were alerted to the incident at about 11.35am at the NSK Supermarket here.
According to Rusdi, the four men had their helmets on and wore fluorescent vests.
Two are believed to be armed with guns.
According to one of the four staff on duty at the time, two of the four men approached the glass display cases and smashed them with hammers and grabbed all the jewellery they could.
"All four of the men ran out of the store in less than a minute of entering it and managed to escape," said Rusdi.
A team of policemen arrived at the scene shortly after to carry out investigations and gather evidence.
Rusdi said the estimated loss is about RM2.5 million.
The case is being investigated for armed robbery.
