A giant 'wau bulan' to fly SEA games torch in the air

    KOTA BARU: A giant kite or 'wau bulan' will be used to fly the 29th SEA Games torch in the air, to symbolise the acceptance of the 2017 SEA Games (KL2017) Torch Run in Kelantan, this Saturday.
    Kelantan Youth and Sports Department director Mohd Nadzri Yaacob said the giant 'wau bulan' measuring 10x10 square feet will be used to raise the torch in a ceremony at Pantai Irama, Bachok.
    "A total of 29 small 'wau bulan' will accompany the giant 'wau bulan' at the event," he told reporters at a press conference in conjunction with the launching of KL2017 Torch Run and 2017 Fit Malaysia programme at the state-level, here today.
    Mohd Nadzri said the torch run would involve a distance of 300km, covering six territories namely Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Kota Bharu, Bachok and Pasir Puteh before it would be handed over to the Terengganu representative.
    The torch was expected to arrive in Jeli from Perak on Thursday before the launching opening gimmick by Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Saturday.
