Government will not 'discard' Malaysian Indian blueprint: Kula Segaran

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will review and fine-tune the implementation of Malaysian Indian Blueprint (MIB) which was introduced by the previous government.
Human Resource Minister M. Kula Segaran said the ministry would study the initiatives outlined in the MIB to ensure the B40 target group received the benefits.
"We are not going to throw it down the drain. We are going keep and use it, as at the end of the day, the people (B40) will benefit. It doesn't matter whose idea it was as long as the best will be utilised to empower the people," he told a press conference after officiating the 2018 Indian Community Entrepreneurs Summit at the Temple of Fine Arts Building here today.
The MIB was launched by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak in April 2017 as an official government document for the development of the Indian community in the country for the next 10 years.
Under the plan, a RM500 million fund has been allocated for an investment scheme under Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) specifically to inculcate the saving habit among the B40 community.
According to Kula further details on the MIB and other issues on the Amanah Saham 1Malaysia (AS1M) and the Socioeconomic Development of Indian Community (Sedic) would be discussed in a special committee meeting on the Indian community to be held in two weeks time.
About 500 entrepreneurs are participating in the summit which acts as a platform to provide business opportunities and help business owners learn the intricacies of entrepreneurship.
"Through this event, Malaysian Indian businesses should be able to grow further, create more employment opportunities for youths, while inspiring others to develop their entrepreneurial skills," said Kula. — Bernama
