Govt seeks additional RM7b in supplementary supply bill

KUALA LUMPUR: The government has tabled a supplementary supply bill seeking an additional allocation of RM7.122 billion for 2017 from the Consolidated Fund for the services and purposes specified in the 2017 schedule.
The supplementary bill was tabled on Monday and was carried under the Supplementary Supply (2017) Act 2018.
According to the bill, the largest allocation channelled to an item listed as Statutory Funds, was a total of RM2.71 billion, while RM82.07 million of the additional funds worth was allocated for the Election Commission.
The Education Ministry was allocated RM891.1 million, followed by the Home Ministry (RM804.2 million), Agriculture and Agro-Based industry (RM685.4 million), Health Ministry (RM479 million), and Higher Education ministry (RM425.4 million).
The Public Service Department will receive RM395.7 million while the foreign ministry will receive RM155.4 million.
Other government ministries and department to receive the allocation are the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (RM235 million), Foreign Affairs Ministry (RM155 million), Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism Ministry (RM150 million).
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is expected to receive RM35 million, Communications and Multimedia Ministry (RM24 million), Prime Minister's Department (RM23 million), Human Resource Ministry (16 million) and Parliament to receive RM10 million.
