Grass cutter jailed for molesting domestic maid

KUALA LUMPUR: A Myanmar grass cutter was sentenced to nine months' jail by the Ampang magistrate's court here today for using force on an Indonesian domestic maid with intent to outrage her modesty.
Magistrate Haslinda A. Raof handed down the sentence on Abdullah Sultan Ahmad, 23, who pleaded guilty to the charge.
Abdullah was charged with committing the offence outside the kitchen of the maid's employer's house at Jalan Ulu Klang here at 11am on Sept 11 this year.
The charge, under Section 354 of the Penal Code, provides an imprisonment for up to 10 years, or with fine, or with whipping, or with any two of the punishments, upon conviction.
He was also sentenced to another nine months' jail for not having any valid travel documents at the same place at 2.05pm last Oct 14, to be served concurrently from the date of arrest.
In mitigation, Abdullah, represented by lawyer Nik Ahmed Asraf Nik Othman, said he was just playing a joke on the maid.
