Guan Eng congratulates all Malaysian athletes

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today congratulated all Malaysian athletes for winning 145 golds in the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games 2017.
He said the historic feat by the athletes should be appreciated especially during the upcoming celebration of the nation's 60th independence day.
He said the national football team's defeat to Thailand on Tuesday night, it should not affect the spirit that has been shown by all Malaysian athletes competing in the event.
The Malaysian football team lost 1-0 to Thailand in the football finals of the SEA Games 2017.
He also congratulated Penang born athletes who represented the country during the Games.
"We feel proud with the performance shown by our Penang athletes during the Games," he said during a press conference at Komtar.
Malaysia achieved its target of 111 gold medals at the Games through national track cycling ace Azizulhasni Awang who is also the world champion in men's keirin.
Penang has 55 athletes from the 844 strong SEA Games contingent. They won 22 golds, 14 silver and 7 bronze.
