Housing estate residents want MACC to investigate land sale to foundation

KUALA LUMPUR: Residents of Taman Tiara Titiwangsa have urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to review their complaints regarding the process of granting land ownership to the Federal Territories Foundation (FTF) for the construction of condominium blocks in the area.
Taman Tiara Titiwangsa Residents Association chairman Datuk Mohamad Yusof A Bakar said doubts were raised over the transfer process of a 7.6-acre plot of land which was originally earmarked for a community centre and open field.
It was not to construct condominium blocks, he noted.
"This is a bungalow lot area where the population density is 32 people per acre. When the condominium blocks are completed, the population density will rise to 800 per acre, and this is unacceptable," he told reporters at the Setiawangsa MP's service centre here today.
In June last year, residents had lodged a complaint with the MACC against FTF chairman and former federal territories minister, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, following the alleged abuse of power in the land ownership issue.
However, the complaint was rejected by the MACC on the grounds that there was no element of corruption. — Bernama
