PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department detained 21 Thai women and seven Bangladeshi men in a raid on an elite entertainment premises in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali said surveillance revealed that the premises were found offering sleazy activities there including a special night themed 'sexy Thai girls kickboxing' which had been common in Thailand.
"All the foreigners are suspected to be working as dancers, singers, guest relations officers (GROs) and (general) workers," he said in a statement here today.
Mustafar said the department had previously raided the premises last year but was later back in the business due to the good money to be made.
"Upon questioning, the Thai women who were working as GRO entered the country using their 30-day social visit passes and they could earn tips up to RM500 a day," he said.
Mustafar also said the entertainment outlet had gone through some modifications such as secret magnetic doors, secret passage and exit doors that could only be accessed from within the premises to avoid and slow down the movement of the enforcement officers during the raid.
"Also arrested were two local men believed to be supervising the immoral activities there," he said.
Mustafar said the department had also summoned other workers, cashier, bodyguards and customers who were at the premises at the time of the raid, to have their statements recorded to assist the investigation.
Those detained were taken to the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot. All the detainees would be held at the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot for further action, he added. — Bernama
