YAN: Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom (pix) hopes the tabling of the 2018 Budget by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak on Friday will touch on matters to empower the Syariah Court and religious institutions nationwide.
He also hoped the government would continue to provide assistance to civil servants including in the context of salary and upgrading Syariah Court buildings to provide a conducive place for the staff to serve the people.
"I place my hope and dream that soon (the government) will provide several aid facilities to civil servants nationwide.
"Most essentially, I wish to see Syariah Courts and religious institutions be empowered especially in the context of buildings and salary," he told reporters at an event to fete the officers and staff of the Yan District Office who won the national level 'Keceriaan Negaraku' competition here today.
Nevertheless, Jamil Khir said any decision was up to the prime minister, taking into account the current financial standing of the government. — Bernama
