JBPM conducts mercy flight for Orang Asli woman

GUA MUSANG: The Air Unit of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department today conducted a mercy flight to send an elderly Orang Asli woman with a critical high fever to the Gua Musang Hospital.
Subang Air Base public relations officer, fire assistant superintendent Mohd Farhan Marzuki said the Orang Asli woman, Amek Litas, 72, was taken from her village at Bihai Post, here, using an Agusta AW139 helicopter at 1.40pm.
"The mercy flight, led by the pilot, fire senior superintendent 1 Faizal Izani Azizan and assisted by co-pilot, fire deputy superintendent Shahrizal Sahari, departed from Bertam, Penang, at 12.50pm and arrived in the village about 50 minutes later.
"The flight arrived at the Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station at 1.50pm before the woman was rushed to the Gua Musang Hospital to receive treatment," he said in a statement, here today.
Mohd Farhan said the mercy flight was made following a request from the Orang Asli Development Department in Gombak.
He said 10 mercy flights had been carried out in Gua Musang by the Fire and Rescue Department since last January. — Bernama
