Johor police detain 63 in Ops Hiburan

JOHOR BARU: Police detained 63 suspects in an "Ops Hiburan" for alleged involvement in vice activities between Monday night and Tuesday morning.
In a statement, Johor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said they arrested 53 Guest Relations Officers (GROs) in the raid carried out in Johor Baru, Kluang and Segamat districts.
He added the suspects aged between 25 and 37 years include Vietnamese, Chinese nationals and locals.
He said 17 of the GRO's clients were found positive for the drug amphetamine following a urine test.
All were detained under Section 6(2) of the Entertainment and Places of Entertainment Enactment of Johor, Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 as well as Section 55B(1) of the Immigration Act.
They are also being investigated under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Rules 1963.
