Land price disputes likely to delay RTS project

JOHOR BARU: The Johor Baru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) may take extra time to be completed as the negotiations on land acquisition in the Kim Teng Park housing estate may take longer due to land price disputes.
The 4km cross border railway is currently scheduled to be completed in 2024.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian said this to reporters after officiating the 20th meeting of Malaysian Government Pensioners Association and Aidilfitri gathering yesterday.
"The owners of land in Kim Teng Park are not satisfied with the prices offered," he said.
"We need more time to sort out the land price issue which costs about RM300 million."
Kim Teck Park is the oldest housing estate in Johor Baru.
The RTS link is a 4km line that will connect Bukit Chagar station in Johor Baru to Woodlands North, Singapore.
