Langkawi police spoil drug trafficker's plan

LANGKAWI: Police nabbed a 36-year-old man with 946g of heroin at the arrival terminal at Kuah Jetty here last night.
Langkawi District Police chief ACP Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang said police found two transparent plastic packets wrapped with newspaper in the sling bag of the suspect who was detained around 9pm.
"Police also found an envelope with a transparent plastic packet believed to contain 51g of syabu inside the man's bag," he told reporters here.
Che Ghazali said the drugs were estimated to be worth RM37,560 and meant for distribution in Kuah and Kedawang here.
"The suspect has been remanded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence," he said. — Bernama
