Leaders' sincerity a major factor in reviving Umno

BESUT: Sincerity is a quality every Umno leader and member must have if they want to revive the party and win the support of the majority of the people in this country, said Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh.
As such, he said, Umno members at all levels should choose leaders who are sincere in leading the party into recovery and becoming strong again like before, and not choose leaders who jump ship and whose loyalty to the party is suspect.
"The struggle for religion and race needs someone with sincerity ... without a personal agenda other than the struggle.
"Leaders who are constantly jumping ship and only looks out for themselves must be discarded as Umno does not need them," he told reporters after presenting zakat (tithe) contributions to local residents at his home in Kampung Toh Has here last night.
On the national Umno elections, Idris said, for now, he had not made any plans either to contest and defend his position as a member of the Supreme Council or to go for a higher position in the party.
However, Idris who is also the deputy head of Umno Besut division said he would contest at the division to help Umno recover at the grassroots level. — Bernama
