KEPALA BATAS: A 61-year-old man with a "Datuk" title was arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at about 12.30pm today.
The suspect who is also the political secretary to a cabinet minister was detained in relation to investigations involving the alleged syphoning of RM40 million from the Skills Development Fund Corp (SDFC).
MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzuklifli Ahmad said the suspect was detained when he arrived at its headquarters in Putrajaya where he was scheduled to have his statement recorded.
"The suspect will be brought to court today for a remand order", he told reporters after attending an anti-corruption programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Hashim Awang today.
During his visit, Dzulkifli took the opportunity to catch up with his former teacher, Mariam Mohamad Hashim, 78, and several of his former classmates.
He also sat at his old desk when he was a student of Class 3M at the school from 1975 to 1980.
Dzulkifli said the suspect will be investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
On Sept 13, four people were detained by the MACC after they were picked up at several places in Kuala Lumpur between 4.30pm and 6pm to assist investigations into the case.
